Getting Started

What is PixelForge?+

PixelForge is a cloud creative workstation service that gives you a full Windows desktop with a dedicated NVIDIA GPU. You connect from any device using Remote Desktop or a streaming client, and pay only for the time you use. No hardware to buy, maintain, or upgrade — just pure creative power on demand.

How is PixelForge different from other cloud services?+

Unlike cloud gaming services with limited libraries or cloud notebooks with no desktop, PixelForge gives you a complete Windows machine with admin access. Install any creative software — Blender, Premiere Pro, Stable Diffusion, or anything else you need for your craft.

What do I need to get started?+

You need a device with an internet connection (any laptop, tablet, or phone), the Microsoft Remote Desktop app (free on all platforms), and a PixelForge account with at least $1.00 in credit. For real-time creative work, we recommend 25 Mbps or faster internet.

Which regions are available?+

PixelForge workstations are available in multiple data center regions across North America and Europe. During deployment, you can select the region closest to you for the smoothest creative experience. We are actively expanding to additional regions.

Pricing & Billing

How does pricing work?+

PixelForge uses a pay-as-you-go credit system. Add credits starting from $2.00 then choose a GPU tier. Billing is per-second while your workstation is running. Stop anytime — billing stops instantly. No subscriptions, contracts, or hidden fees.

When am I charged?+

Only while your workstation is in the Running state. Stopped workstations do not incur charges. Credits are deducted in real time. You can monitor your spending from the Billing page in your creative studio.

What payment methods are accepted?+

We accept Visa and Mastercard credit and debit cards through our secure payment processor. All transactions are encrypted and PCI-compliant.

Can I get a refund?+

Unused credits can be refunded within 14 days of purchase. If you experience downtime caused by our infrastructure, affected creators receive automatic credit. Contact support@pixelforge.studio for refund requests.

What happens if I run out of credit?+

If your credit balance reaches zero while a workstation is running, it will be stopped automatically. Your creative work is preserved for 24 hours, giving you time to add more credits and resume. You will receive a low-balance warning before this happens.

Workstations & Performance

What GPU options are available?+

We offer four creative tiers: Sketch (RTX A4000, 16 GB VRAM) from ~$0.25/hr, Canvas (RTX 4090, 24 GB VRAM) from ~$0.49/hr, Studio (L40S, 48 GB VRAM) from ~$0.99/hr, and Masterwork (A100 80GB, 80 GB VRAM) from ~$1.99/hr. All include SSD storage, multiple vCPUs, and full Windows admin access.

How fast does a workstation start?+

Most workstations are ready in under 60 seconds. Once running, you receive connection credentials immediately in your creative studio dashboard.

Are my files saved when I stop?+

Yes. When you stop a workstation, your files, installed software, and desktop state are preserved for 24 hours. Resume within that window and everything is exactly as you left it. For long-term storage, we recommend backing up important creative work to cloud storage.

Can I use multiple monitors?+

Yes. Microsoft Remote Desktop supports multiple monitors natively. Enable multi-monitor in your RDP client settings before connecting.

What operating system do the workstations run?+

All PixelForge workstations run Windows 10 with full administrator access. NVIDIA drivers, DirectX, and common runtimes are pre-installed. You have complete freedom to install any creative software.

Connection & Streaming

Which streaming client should I use?+

For rendering, AI work, and design, Microsoft Remote Desktop (RDP) works great with zero setup. For real-time creative work or gaming, Parsec or Moonlight offer lower latency. You can also use noVNC in a web browser for quick access from any device.

What internet speed do I need?+

For design work via RDP, 15 Mbps is sufficient. For real-time streaming, we recommend 50 Mbps+. A wired connection provides a smoother creative experience than Wi-Fi.

How can I reduce lag?+

Select the data center region closest to you. Use a wired Ethernet connection. Close other bandwidth-heavy applications. For real-time work, use Parsec or Moonlight instead of RDP.

Can I connect from a phone or tablet?+

Yes. The Microsoft Remote Desktop app is available for iOS and Android. Parsec also has mobile apps. For quick access, use the noVNC web client directly in your mobile browser.

Creative Software & Use Cases

What creative software can I run?+

Anything that runs on Windows. Popular choices include Blender, Cinema 4D, Maya, Adobe Creative Suite, DaVinci Resolve, Unreal Engine, Stable Diffusion, ComfyUI, LM Studio, and more. You have full admin access to install whatever you need.

Can I run AI art tools?+

Absolutely. PixelForge is ideal for running Stable Diffusion, ComfyUI, Automatic1111, Fooocus, and other AI art tools with full GPU acceleration. The Canvas and Masterwork tiers are especially popular for AI art generation.

Can I use PixelForge for game development?+

Yes. Unreal Engine, Unity, Godot — all run perfectly on PixelForge. The Studio tier with L40S is recommended for real-time rendering and shader development.

Troubleshooting

My workstation will not start. What should I do?+

Check that you have sufficient credit. Try a different region if your selected one has limited capacity. If the issue persists, contact support@pixelforge.studio.

I cannot connect to my workstation.+

Ensure your workstation shows Running in your dashboard. Verify the IP address, username, and password. Check that your firewall or VPN is not blocking RDP traffic (port 3389). Try restarting the Remote Desktop client.

The streaming quality is poor.+

Switch to a wired connection. Close other bandwidth-heavy apps. Lower the resolution in your streaming client. Make sure you are connected to the nearest data center region.

The GPU is not detected in my software.+

Open Device Manager and check if the NVIDIA GPU appears under Display Adapters. If it shows a warning, try reinstalling NVIDIA drivers from the official website. A workstation restart may also help.
